The Elder Law Committee provides education to members of the Bar and the public on issues affecting the elderly and those with disabilities, monitors legislation and proposes statutory changes.



Committee Goals

  • Provide education to members of the Bar and to the public on issues that affect the elderly and people with disabilities.

  • Plan a seminar on Elder Law and plan an Elder Law related seminar at the Bar Convention.

  • Monitor, study, evaluate and express comments on legislation and develop proposed legislation to the Bar that affects the elderly, those with disabilities and/or vulnerable adults. 

  • Explore, monitor and participate in projects that affect the elderly and people with disabilities.

  • Continue to develop benefits to attract and retain members.

  • Develop relationships with other advocacy groups for the elderly and people with disabilities. 

  • Strengthen the South Carolina Bar Elder Law Committee by actively promoting diversity, equity inclusion and accessibility within all areas of the South Carolina Bar Elder Law Committee, the practice of Elder Law, the legal profession, and judicial system in South Carolina.
